My Story

Description

I am Alex Hoseason.

Through basic curiosity (and the encouraging words of ~psycho275), I picked up a compact digicam one day.

I started making pictures.

Several months later, as part of my grans will, I bought myself a Minolta DSLR.

And carried on making pictures.

I have 3 lenses, a 50mm f/1.7, an 18-70 f/3.5-5.6, and a 55-200mm f/4-5.6

I consider these all the lenses I'll need for a long time.

I recently got a Minolta 60 film SLR, and several rolls of Ilford XP2 film.

I use this to make (more) pictures.

I hope to have the oppurtunity to use a darkroom in university soon.

I also hope to possibly pick up a job doing what I love.

Making pictures.

This is my (continuing) story.

My submission to the #photographers "story" project. Taking part this Saturday.
We're all making a picture to tell a story. Anyone's story. This is mine.

It's not just mine though. My photography story is linked in with the 2 of the people that I hope to make proud of me - my Dad and my Gran. My Dad was into photography "way back", and a compliment on one of my pictures from him is high praise indeed. In fact, it's him that paid to have "Down//Out" printed and framed, because he liked it so much. I was over the moon to hear that. I consider my Gran, who passed away some time ago, the person who bought my DSLR for me, if only by proxy. In this way, she became an integral part of my photography. I used the set up she "bought me" to take this picture. Every time I take a picture with my DSLR, I hope that I'm making her proud.

Maybe thats a bit too mushy, but it's all true.

I like the shot but i like the story behind it more. Without it I'd get a jist of the story but not the whole thing.

I think the shot is a bit underexposed, could be lifted slightly. I think it'd be nice if the photo frame's border was a brighter white to really seperate the printed photo from the rest of the image.
